The  hotel and the neighbourhood
I stayed in the 4 stars hotel  El Hana. The hotel had a nice garden with a nice pool and an impressive lobby. The food and the rooms didn't have the class of a 4 stars hotel. It was a big hotel complex.  Even in this hotel it was a problem to pay with "large banknotes"(5 euro is a large banknote when you have to pay 1,5 euro) So you have to wait (to) long for your change. The drinks have European prices (in an African country) and they realy apreciate tips (they ask for it). I have not became sick, but a felow traveller is and he thinks it good be the food of the hotel. Some more guest have become sick and they also suspected the food. In total I can't say it's a bad hotel, but I think it was more a 3 stars hotel instead of a 4 stars hotel.

In the evening they gave a rather good Arabic show. There was music and a snake charmer etc. That's the advantage of staying in a big complex, then it pays to have large shows.

The beach was nice, but beds with umbrella's were sometimes sold out. But near the pool, there were always places with shade. For me an umbrella is an absolute must. (My skin has the colour of snow, and when I don't have an umbrella and suncreme my skin wil have the colour of a tomatoe)

Outdoor cafés
In the centre of Sousse there're several cosy outdoor cafés.  A lot of people are walking at the street and it's nice to look at people. They all walked on sandels. I think the Tunisians have to thank the French for the outdoor cafés, they looked the same as in France. The only difference is, you will almost never see a Tunisian woman at an outdoor café. That's not done. But it's no problem for female tourists, the Tunisians do know it's normal for those women to sit in an outdoor café and therefore they totaly accept this.

The disco
Yes, in Tunisia there're also disco's and not only for foreigners. When you're in a disco, you often see whole families inside. Outside the disco you see boys standing, waiting to bring their sister safely back home. Maybe some men also wanted to make contact with a nice blond female tourist..

Buildings
The old buildings are build in another stile then the European buildings. They used stones with a sand colour and rounded shapes. You realy notice you're in an Arabic country. Especially the  Medinna (inner city) with his small alleys and the soek give an oriëntal atmosphere.

The harbour
The harbour of  Sousse is still in use by real fishermen. They don't have big trailers, but they have normal boats. They repair their own nets so it's not as professionall as in Holland. It's nice to see, but you get the real fish smell. Well I think a real fish harbour must have a fishy smell.
