Railroad
There's a special railroad between  Monastir and Sousse which makes it simple to travel between the two cities.

Friendly sales man.......
During one of our walks through the city of Monastir a salesman spoke to us. He sold headscarfs. It was nice for a photo, and I was willing to buy one for some little money. But for the nylon handcarchief he asked more then 4 euro. Well, I made him a final offer (which was quite good): 2 euro. But no, he insisted on having more. So it was a pitty for this man, but he made no sale. I should have made a photo of the angry face of the sales man. I supose when he see his photo at this website, he also will ask me money for it....

Costume museum
I didn't make a photo of it, but did visit it: the costume museum. It's on your way to the  mausoleum of Bourguiba.  In the museum a guide tells you all about the clothes and local customs. It's not a bic museum, but it was very informative and not expensive.

Bourguiba
Bourguiba was the first political leader after the independance of Tunisia. (Tunisia is a former colony of France)  Hij was the leader from 1957 till 1987 and therefore can be seen as the founder of the modern Tunisia of today. In Monastir there's the impressive mausoleum of Bourguiba and also his palace. Unfortunately I didn't visit these places.

Ribat
This Iislamic monastery is situated at a strategic point of a hill. You have a nice view over the sea, the city and the large cementery.

Cementery
It sounds strange, but the cementery is woth looking at. You can have a good view of the cementery when you're at the ribat. The cementery does look different from a Dutch cementery. All the graves are white and besides the grave there's sand.

Beach
Monastir does have a nice beach where you can practise several activities.
