At the Inner Court you see the government buildings. In the middle you see the "ridderzaal" (knights room).
There used to drive a
tramway through the Inner Court.
You can see most government buildings at the Hofvijver. The small tower is the most famous, because it's the working office of the prime minister.
The other governmental buildings are situated at the Korte(Short) Vijverberg, Lange Poten (Long leggs; wel known from Monopoly)
and the Hofweg (Court road). Naast de Lange Poten heb je natuurlijk ook de Korte Poten(short leggs).
The "tweede kamer" (second room) is the Dutch parliament. After they approved a new law, the new law is given to the "eerste kamer" (first room).
After the first room approves the new law, it's pubblished in the State newspaper and its become legal.
Not long ago they enlarged the governmental buildings, but fortunately the look at the vijverberg is still the same, and also the
"ridderzaal: hasn't changed.
Although Amsterdam is the capital of Holland, the government is in The Hague. Therefore you will find most ambassies and consulates
in The Hague.
The "new" town hall wasn't big enough, so today they've build a very large white town hall, with the nickname Ice-Palace.
