Explanation

Willem Drees

Willem Drees was born in Amsterdam, but he has lived the largest part of his life in The Hague. Drees was the political leader of the SDAP (Socialistic Democratic Workers (=Arbeiders) Party). (Now the name of this party is PvdA)
Drees has been the prime minister of 4 governments in the years 1948 - 1958. Drees has been a very important leader of Holland and he established the social secure system for the elderly people. Drees has died at the age of 101! In the Hague Drees has lived in a house like the ones at the photo's.

Railroads

There were several railroad companies in The Hague, with their own stations: Het Staatsspoor (State Railroad) and station Hollandsch Spoor (Holland Railroad)
