The lake Titicaca
The lake Titicaca is a gigantic lake
of 8000 km² that
is partly in Peru and partly in Bolivia.
It's situated at 3812
meter height, which makes it the heighest lake on earth on
which you can sail. At the lake Titicaca the Uros-indians
lived on self made islands of reed. The Uros indians no longer exist, but
the Aymara indians have taken over their place.
During the day they stay at the islands and sell things to tourists. These
products are made at home or in small factories. In the evening the indians
return to their houses at the main land.
Taquile
In the the lake Titicaca there's the
island Taquile. It's a trip of some hours to
get there by boat. The island does have a few very small vilages and they
builded a restaurant for the tourists. You have to climb a lot of stairs to
reach the restaurant. The island is nice and quit and you have a good view
over the lake Titicaca.
