Nazca lines
De Nazca lines are still a great mystery. When you look from the ground you can hardly see the lines and figures, but you can see it from the air.  They estimate the Nazca lines dat from about  300-600 year after the birth of Christ. It's strange people who can't fly are making figures in the sand, you can only see from the air.some people believe these are sign for aliens.

In this photo-collection I have 1 example of a drawing:  The astronaut. Although you can see the drawings from the air, it's sometimes difficult to see. At first I thought some jeeps had driven to the dessert, leaving their marks. But also these trails are part of the figures and are very old. Why and how the Nazca lines are made, is still a mystery.

Mummy's
In the Dessert have lived indians, long before the Inca empire. They don't know for sure how the houses of these indians looked like, but it's obvious these persons honoured the  dead. Because a dessert is very dry, the bodies are not decomposed. In the crypts  they placed important objects for the died. Unfortunately this causes the intrest of grave robbers. They sold a lot of things to antique traders in Lima, who sold their stuff to Europe.

There're still several graves below the ground. Below the slums of Lima there're proberbly some graves with mumy's. But in the slums they also use water, wich will destroy the mumy's. Unfortunately Peru doesn't have the money to search those mumy graves.

Are you grazy?
nearby the dessert had lived a special civilization. these people believed a high forehead was a sign of intelligence. Not everybody is born with a hogh forehead, but everybody wants to have inteligent children...  A baby does have a flexible head, because of it's fontanels. So they placed the baby head in a special small and long box. This box was bounded to the head for years and.... yes, the child did get a long forehead!  A great methode, but unfortunately the people started to get headache after some years. Thse were the angry spirits! How do you get rid of those spirits in your head? Well, that's simple: just make a small hole in your head and the angry spirit can fly away.! in museums you see lot's of skeleton's with a little hole in the head.

Underground rivers
You don't see any water in the dessert, but still there's some water. Below the ground there're some underground rivers. Ancient civilizations used these rivers to make an  irrigation systeem.
