Cuzco
Cuzco is the old capital of the Inca empire. The Spanish have destroyed a lot and builded their own buildings and churches.

Inca buildings
You can't see  Inca buildings anymore, because they're all destroyed by the Spanish. But a lot of Spanish buildings are build on the Inca foundations. The Inca's didn't use bricks but they used rocks. These large stones fit  exactly to each other and it's still a mystery how they maneged to do that. The rocks do have strange forms with a lot of courners, so you wonder how they could build a wal from these different kind of stines.  The construction is very could, because when there was a big earth quake, the Spanish buildings collapsed, but all the Inca foundations remained undamaged.

The central square
At the central square, the Plaza de Armas,  there's of course a church. The interior of this church is realy intresting. Next to the church is the university. and at the square you can also find some restaurants and cafe's. In the middle of the square there's a public garden with a lot of begging pigeons. When I was at the square some students hold a public protest against the education policy in Peru from dicator Fujimorri. They were carying a coffin to the chirch. This coffin was a symbol for the education, which has died. I don't know if the protest was a succes, but I do know that Peru does have another president.

Market
In  Cuzco I've been to the market again. At a market you see the local products and the local people. I didn't dear to drink something at the market, because it didn't look very hygienic. Be also aware of pick pockets..

Other intresting things
Cuzco does have several intresting museums. In the neighbourhood of Cuzco you can also see a lot of things. I visited several museums and I did make a walking tour in the neighbourhood of Cuzco.
