Money
When I was in Greece things where a little bit cheaper then in Holland. It seems however that after the introduction of the Euro prices went up drasticaly.  

The Greek alfabeth
The Greek characters are different from the latin characters, but it's not to hard to gues which town it is, when you look at a signpost. some signposts are also in English. A survey of all greek characters can be fount here: Greek characters.

The Greek language
You can't understand anything when you didn't follow a Greek course. I did not even try, because why should I for just a two weeks holiday? It's not necessary too, because most tourist workers speek English or are even students from Britain.  

The looks of the Greek
The Greek all have black hair, dark eyes and a long nose. The eyebrows are thick and the older man often are a bit fat. I don't think the Greek have the same look as the Turkish. 

Sun, beach or culture?
When you like to go out, love the shopping and want to catch a lot of sun, Crete is a good place to be. The beaches are pretty, the weather is good and in Chersonisos are plenty of  disco's and bars. Crete has experience with tourists and there're no pushy salesmen.

When you like old things, Crete is als the place to be! There're a lot of archeological places. Old monestairies, churches etc. Unfortunately churches are often closed.

The environment is also attractive. I've made a trip on a scooter through the mountains and then I saw old-fashioned places. You can see old women in black, oxes and cows, goats etc. I didn't see tourist even though there must have been many on the island. I supose most tourists will visit the beaches, the Samaria Canyon and Knossos.

Well I didn't like Knossos at all. The Samaria Canyon is nice, but I fear it's over crowded in the high season.
