Google advertisement programs:   Google AdSense  and  Google AdWords

General
I do have sufficient webspace top host some more software, but I have decided not to update this part of my website anymore, because it's to much work. If there're any broken links on this page, I would appreciate it to hear it from you.

Security:
ZoneAlarm is a free  firewall. A firewall does protect your computer against hackers (burglars on your computer) and it also protect against programs that want to automatically surf on the internet (to send some information).  A firewall however is not a virus scanner!

Adaware from Lavasoft is a freeware program against spyware.  Spyware are programs that sent information about your internet-behaviour to another website. Spyware is used by hackers or by companies that want to sent you advertisements.  AddAware

Games
If you want to learn Dutch, "Woordkasteel" is a good start. The freeware program is in Dutch and does have lots of language games in it, with several levels.

This game from the Dutch political party SP is a bit outdated. You can trow tomatoes to the conservative politicions. It's a pitty you can't choose your own favorite politicions.

Creating PDF-Files
CutePDF
Cute PDF is a very handy freeware program that can make  PDF-files. Install CutePDF and if you want a PDF-file just print it to CutePDF and your PDF-file is made!

Graphics
IconEdit is a very tiny freeware program that can make icons. If you have a picture with an icon size, you can simple cut and paste it in IconEdit and make an icon.

Xara3d is a freeware program that can make turning text for your website.

Picasa  is the freeware photo program of Google. You can edit and organize your photo's with Picasa and you can also publish your photo's on a website. There're a lot of other options and it's all free.

Firefox
To surf the internet you need a browser. In the early days Netscape was the most used browser, but now most people use Internet Explorer. Because the dominancy of Internet Explorer, this browser does not follow all the World Wide Web Consortium rules. Webpages therefore can look different in Internet Explorer, compared with other browsers.

Firefox is the largest alternative browser with a market share of over 10%. Firefox has the same functionality as Internet Explorer and which program you prefer is a matter of personal preference. Reasons why people use Firefox are:

1. Alternative browser.
   If you don't have a connection with the internet, it could be your connection or it could be a problem with Internet Explorer? If you have Firefox you can check this.
2. Hackers and viruses
   Because Internet Explorer is the largest browser, hackers and virus writers are focused at the leaks in this program, so surfing with Firefox sometimes is a little bit safer.
3. Availability of your website
   With a market share of 10%, one of every ten visitors of your website is using Firefox. How Internet Explorer displays your website is often completely different from other browsers. If you are a serious webmaster, you also check how your website is displayed in Firefox. (If you're really serious, you test your site in all browsers)
4. People who hate Microsoft
   Some people just hate everything that comes with Microsoft. The prefer to use alternatives, like Open Office and Firefox.
5. Personal preference
   Some people have a preference for Firefox, because you can use tabs, it's easy to use and it quicker.

Google advertisement programs
Google does have two advertisement programs: AdSense for webmasters ("publishers") and AdWords for advertisers.  
AdSense
For the webmaster who wants to make money with advertisements, Google Adsense does have a lot of advantages:

• Easy to use
  To use Google AdSense is very easy. After you have joined the AdSense program you place a peace of code in every web page and that's it!
• No maintenance
  After you've placed the code, Google takes care of the adds. You don't have to worry about the end of a campaign, the end of a contract etc.
• No search for advertisers
  Especially for small websites it's very hard to find an advertiser. For Google AdSense it doesn't matter if your site has one visitor a year or one visitor a minute, all sites are welcome. The only restriction is you have a domain name and your site has decent content.
• No financial problems
  Google is a solid financial partner, so you don't have to worry about payments.
• Targeted adds
  This is the main advantage of Google's advertisement program. Google automatically searches for those advertisements that suites your site best. Visitors therefore see only advertisements of their interests, so there's a bigger change they also click on the adds. 
• Statistics
  You get a good overview of which pages and programs have the most success.

AdWords
For advertisers AdWords is the way to advertise on the internet. AdWords does have a lot of advantages:

• Real targeted adds
  It's nice to have a lot of visitors at your site, but it's much better if all those visitors are really interested in your products. With Google AdWords you can select your own keywords and regions and Google searches the right places for your adds. With the superb search experience of Google, you can be sure this works pretty good.
• No search for sites
  Sure, you can search for sites that suites your product and ask for advertisement places. This means you have to make contracts, negotiate etc. If you have paided a lot for an important site and the search position of this site gets down, you also have a problem. With Google AdWords your adds will show on important sites but also on small websites. Most important: All those sites with your adds suites your product.
• Reliable
  Google is a reliable financial partner so you don't have to be afraid for sites getting bankrupt, sites that uses tricks to enhance the counted visitors etc.
• You only pay for real visitors
  It's nice if a lot of persons see your add, but what if they're not interested? With Google AdWords you can choose not to pay for the adds, but only for the persons that really click on your adds.
• No fraude
  Because a webmaster get paid for every click on an advertisement, it's tempting for him  to keep clicking on the adds at his site. This means you would pay again and again for the same visitor. There're software programs that can do this clicking automatically. With Google AdWords you don't have to worry about this problem: Google checks if the visitors are unique and if Google finds out a webmaster is not being honest, he will be expelled from the program.
• Limited budget
  You can  decide yourself how much you will maximum spend on the adds.
