Badminton in general
I play badminton at the badminton club BV Drive in Leiden.

first I had the impression that badminton is a game for women, but I was wrong. Badminton isn't the game you see on the camping: playing a shuttle to the other player as much as possible.

In a real badminton game, You want to return the shuttle in a way your opponent can't return it!. There're several technique for this: you can hit the shuttle hard (a smash), or you give it a verry soft tag. (a drop) It's important to hold your racket in the right way and to hit the shuttle correct. Most important is the position play. return the shuttle where your opponent doesn't expect it and be sure to stand in the middle of the field (so you can go to any place you want) The theory is simple, but in practise......

Badminton is a dynamic game. For recreational badminton you don't need an athletic body when your position play and technique are good. The members of BV drive are of all ages (I'm 39 years old and I'm not an old player)

Necessary materials
For badminton you need the following materials:
Badminton shoe. (mine where about  Euro 40)
Badminton racket (mine is about Euro 60)
Sport dress: whatever you like

Shutles (6 nylon shutles cost about  Euro 12)
Nylon shutles will last longer
Shutles (12 fether shutles cost about Eur0 17)
Fether shutles are used by advanced players.

Opening bar:

Bar is open Wednesday: from 19.45-23.30

Bar is open Friday: from 19.15-23.30
